Delivering the Goods with DoorDash: 2023

Public First has produced a new report on the impact of DoorDash in the United States in 2023. The report highlights the role of DoorDash in providing flexible earning opportunities for ‘Dashers’, in helping merchants like restaurants or grocers grow their businesses, and in enhancing the choice and convenience of consumers.

Highlights

  • Dashers: 92% say that dashing allows them more flexibility compared with other earnings they’ve had; 79% feel less stressed and anxious about their financial situation because they can dash whenever they need.
  • Merchants: 87% say that DoorDash helps them to reach new customers, while 70% say that it has helped increase profits; 1 in 5 merchants even said that their business would not exist today if not for DoorDash.
  • Consumers: in total, DoorDash saved users an estimated 446 million hours in 2023, with 80% agreeing that it helps them to become more productive or gives them time back for other activities.

Methodology

For this report, Public First and Quadrant Strategies carried out on-the-record interviews with a range of independent DoorDash merchant partners, and conducted independent, anonymous surveys of:

  • 6,957 Dashers who completed a delivery in the last 90 days.
  • 1,248 independent merchants currently partnering with DoorDash.
  • 2,645 consumers who have ordered on DoorDash Marketplace in the last month.
