New Polling for the Howard League for Penal Reform

Public First conducted consumer polling of 1,005 respondents in an anonymous, online poll in England and Wales for the Howard League for Penal Reform. Fieldwork ran from 4 Feb 2025 to 7 Feb 2025. All results are weighted using Iterative Proportional Fitting, or ‘Raking’. The results are weighted by interlocking age & gender, region and social grade to Nationally Representative Proportions. New polling for the Howard League for Penal Reform focused in particular on identifying and understanding the views of those who are most hostile to sentencing reform and the increased use of community sentences to understand the views of those who are hardest to persuade, and to investigate what messages and arguments they find most persuasive.
