New polling on the UK public and local green energy development

In August this year we conducted research in partnership with the Conservative Environment Network on local opinion towards renewable energy development, such as solar farms and wind turbines.

Research for this project combined constituency level polling in 19 seats, with in-depth, qualitative research in Witney. The 19 constituencies, all held by Conservative MPs, were selected due to their proximity to existing or proposed major renewable energy developments in the East of England and Oxfordshire.

We conducted polling of 1,060 adults across the UK from 16th August 2023 to 24th August 2023. We asked respondents a series of questions about the rollout of renewable energy in the UK, renewable energy developments in their local area, their understanding of local opinion towards these developments, and what they thought their local MP’s opinion may be.
