PF Internship Programme Summer 2025

Public First’s education team is recruiting a paid intern for an eight-week period this summer (start date negotiable, ideally early July). Under the direction of members of the Education team, the intern will provide support for the team’s wide-ranging work in policy, strategy, research and opinion consultancy, working with different team members across the course of the internship to help deliver outputs such as client reports, qualitative research and data analysis.

Job summary

The intern will be expected to engage with all of the following:

  • Support for a two-day programme of offsite events in early July;
  • Conduct, synthesise and comment upon research for the Education team;
  • Monitor developments in politics and media relating to different projects;
  • Assist with the delivery of client-facing products, such as proof-reading reports, creating slide decks and updating web pages;
  • Support with the creation and management of client relations databases, such as lists of political and corporate contacts;
  • Provide ad-hoc logistical support for events, trips and operations.
  • Research and complete a policy blog for publication on our website

Person specifications

  • Currently undertaking undergraduate, masters or PhD study
  • A demonstrable interest in education policy, and the desire to learn and understand more about specific education policy areas. 
  • Experience of long-form research projects (eg dissertations or reports)
  • Strong understanding of the UK’s political system and current affairs
  • Capable of getting to our office in central London at least twice a week (Monday and Thursday)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google software suites
  • Proven interest in education as a policy brief

Salary: London Living Wage

Hours: 37.5hrs per week

Start date: negotiable (preferably early- to mid-July)
