Polling for Transform Justice
At the end of 2024, Public First conducted opinion research for Transform Justice on public attitudes towards out-of-court resolutions and the criminal records system. We ran three anonymous, online polls targeting a national representative sample of the UK, victims, and people with protected characteristics.
Fieldwork ran from 15th November – 20th December 2024. The results of the nationally representative poll are weighted using Iterative Proportional Fitting, or ‘Raking,’ The results are weighted by interlocking age & gender, region, and social grade to Nationally Representative Proportions. The results of the victims and protected characteristics polls are unweighted.
The term ‘protected characteristics’ refers to people from an ethnic minority background, people from a religious minority, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.
‘Victims’ refers to respondents who have self-reported being the victim of a crime within the last four years, in line with the Crime Survey of England and Wales. This analysis does not include victims who had only experienced online or phone fraud.
