Civic University Commission

The Civic University Commission has driven a new focus on civic and local activity for universities across the country. Chaired by Lord Kerslake, and sponsored by the UPP Foundation, the commission brought together eminent people from across Higher Education to understand how government and universities could recapture the civic activity that drove many universities when they were founded. Public First designed, researched, and wrote the Commission Report; ran evidence sessions across the country.; and conducted polling and focus groups to understand local perceptions of universities The Commission report had wide-ranging recommendations for government and institutions, and has led to the development of Civic University Agreements across the country.
