The public are panicked about the NHS. Any focus group will have stories: teenagers waiting years to get an appointment, ageing relatives lying on the floor waiting for the ambulance, operations cancelled. In the public’s mind, nothing works. It doesn’t matter if you’re in mid Bedfordshire or North Yorkshire, health is a top priority and a top concern.
